Profiling is personal data that is processed in an automated way. This data is used to evaluate a person’s health, reliability, preferences, interests etc and to analyse or predict behaviour.

Automated decision-making is where a software tool is used to automatically make decisions using data without human input.  An example is credit checks searches to detect and to reduce fraud.

The Council uses automated tool but does not carry out automated decision making without human intervention.
